Letter from Papa NPR 2012

Sure wish I could have been there, looking at this picture brings back so many good memories. Can you send me more details? How did Jacob hurt his foot, why did you sleep in a cave? how did a dog bite Jerry? Scotty told me about his devotional and I asked him to write it down and send it. I would love to hear about the other devotionals too, can you write them down and send them to me?
We have been so busy, today Monday is our first day to have a little time in a long time but it is good. We watched all five sessions of conference Sat and Sun (it's delayed one week here). We had a baptism scheduled for Sunday after conference which would have been our fifth baptism in a row but he got drunk sat night and we had to postpone it. This is a tough one because he may have to move out and live with his (Dad a bad influence and out of our area) which will mean he probably will fall away. But we will keep praying for him.
We had a awesome zone conference last Thursday and I will send a family e mail about it. I loved Elder Hollands talk Sunday morning. We had a picture hanging on our wall of Christ calling his apostles from the boat with Peter pulling up the net, it has a new meaning for us now. I feel my life will never be the same after this mission and I could never go back to exactly what I was doing and had before, although I may spend a few days fishing with my grandsons.
I also loved Elder Eryings talk about The Lord uncovering the pavilion and how we can discover what The Lord has in store for us if we have the faith to follow listen for and heed the promptings. Scotty told me today how he has been listening to and following promptings and the blessings that have followed. I love hearing how his life is being led and the strong confirmation he has now that he is on the right path.
My favorite talk was President Monson's about answered prayers. For me I believe President Monson teaches Christlike, sharing examples of how he has followed the spirit and been led to bless others in time of great need. His examples are like parables for us to follow, I love what he said " The Lord is in the details". Once again it was confirmed to me that He is our Prophet and that the Priesthood authority has been restored to the earth again in all of its magnificent glory and power.
I Love You my sons and grandsons and I am so proud and thrilled you honorably hold the priesthood authority of God. The same authority to Baptize, Confirm and give the gift of the Holy Ghost, Bless and administer the Sacrament.
I testify to you that as King Benjamin said when we are in the service of others we are in the service of God. I want to challenge you to read from the Book of Mormon daily, pray daily and fast often, have a prayer in your heart, stay close to The Lord, follow the Holy Ghost as he prompts you, keep your covenants and don't be afraid (As Scotty says to make a deal) or to make personal covenants with The Lord. I know that If you keep you part of the deal he will always keep his.
I love you all so very much.
Your Dad and Papa

Bob and Jer

Hiking at Lake Powell

NPR 2012

Hi Family,

Thank you wives and family for supporting another NPR. It was great adding Jarod and Sammy this year. We had a lot of fun and built lasting memories together. Every night we did devotionals around a fire. As we shared inspirational messages, we felt the spirit together and strengthened our relationships as Norton priesthood holders.

We did all the usual fun things (boating, swimming, hiking, exploring, fishing). It was also a very eventful year. Here are some highlights...

-Jacob 5 stitches in his foot (ax)
-Bob's boat trailer blown tire
-Jerry bit in the leg by a dog
-Bob's boat beached in sand. Had to use house boat to pull it out.
-Moved the house boat to 3 different locations
-Slept in a cave
Slept in the boat and truck (first night)
-Got rained on

We sure missed Dad and Doug this year. Lets all plan on making it next year!
